Key Material Specifications
Material Base: Thermoplastic (as required)
Key Requirement: UL 94 V-0 Flame Rating (This is a critical specification that will guide material selection).
Commonly Used Compliant Materials:
ABS (V-0 Rated): Excellent impact strength, good aesthetics, easy to plate. Ideal for consumer electronics, power-tool housings, telephone handsets.
PC (Polycarbonate) / PC-ABS Blend (V-0 Rated): High impact and temperature resistance, good clarity options. Common for automotive interiors, electrical components, medical devices.
Nylon (PA6, PA66 - V-0 Rated): High strength, good chemical and heat resistance. Used in automotive under-hood parts, power tools, mechanical components.
PP (Polypropylene - V-0 Rated): Good chemical resistance, flexible, low cost. Used for containers, fittings, and automotive parts.
*Note: Standard PS, PE, POM, and PMMA are not inherently V-0. They would require specific flame-retardant additives, which can alter their properties.*
