The Professional Injection Molding Process

1. Design & Quotation: You provide a 3D CAD model and 2D drawing. The supplier reviews it for Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and provides a quote for mold (tooling) cost and part price.

2. Prototyping (Optional): A pre-production sample may be made via 3D printing or a soft tooling mold to verify the design.

3. Mold (Tool) Manufacturing: A precision mold, typically made from hardened steel or aluminum, is machined. This is the most critical and costly part of the process.

4. Production Injection Molding: Plastic pellets (ABS, PC, or PP) are melted and injected under high pressure into the mold to form the part.

5. Quality Control: Parts are inspected to ensure they meet all dimensional and visual specifications.
