Superb processability: Excellent fluidity, capable of filling complicated mold cavity designs (appropriate for intricate parts); low processing temperature (190-230°C), short cycle time and therefore appropriate for mass production.
Superb mechanics: Excellent impact toughness (brittle failure below room temperature is unlikely), good stiffness and tensile strength and therefore appropriate for most applications without any reinforcing requirement.
Good surface treatment: Suitable for electroplating (such as chromium plating for ABS products), coating, silk screening, hot stamping and frosting; glossy ABS products can have their surface polished in the molding process without requiring polishing.
Economic benefit: Relatively lower price than other plastics such as PC, PEEK and PA66, simpler mold design, less energy consumption during molding process and therefore low overall cost.
Customization of modifications: ABS can be compounded with PC and therefore create ABS/PC alloys with superior thermal stability, glass-fiber reinforced and flame retardant/UV resistant according to the application environment.
