Characteristics of the Three Current Injection Molding Mold Types
Large-scale injection molding, precision injection molding, and thin-wall injection molding are the three main forms of injection molding. Different injection molding processes have different requirements for molds. This article compares and analyzes the characteristics of these three different types of injection molding molds and summarizes the current research status in various fields in China based on this analysis. With the rapid economic development and the improvement of people's living standards, people have increasingly higher demands for large-capacity washing machines, large-screen TVs, automobiles, aerospace, and other areas, leading to a corresponding increase in large-scale injection molding. Currently, there is no unified standard for classifying large injection molds. Generally, molds exceeding 3000 square centimeters are considered large injection molds. Similarly, molds weighing over 2 tons are also considered large injection molds. Compared with ordinary injection molding, large injection molded products have the characteristics of large volume and high quality. Large injection molds also have their own positioning, with unique requirements in mold design and mold material selection, specifically reflected in the following aspects: 1. Cavity, strength, and rigidity requirements. Due to the high pressure of the melt, the cavities of large injection molds are prone to significant deformation, and the elastic deformation increases with the size of the cavity and the pressure. (2) Cavity component requirements. Compared with medium and small-sized injection molds, large injection molds have more complex cavity and core structures.
