How to Judge the Quality of Extrusion Plastic Molds - Design for Manufacturing

2025,12,31

The use of extrusion plastic molds is now very common. If you don't pay attention to quality issues during selection, it will seriously affect normal use later on. Today, the Suzhou plastic mold editor will tell you how to judge the quality of plastic molds.

1. When choosing a mold, you must look at its thickness. Although the mold doesn't need to withstand excessive force or harsh environments during use, due to frequent demolding and mold release, plastic molds are prone to wear, deformation, and other problems. The solution to these problems is to increase the thickness of the mold. Therefore, during the mold selection process, you can analyze the quality of the mold from its thickness.

2. Check whether the specifications of the extrusion mold are standard. A good mold can control the size of the extruded plastic product to within a few tenths of a millimeter of error, while inferior molds often produce products with errors of several millimeters or even centimeters.

3. Check the material and workmanship of the entire mold. A good mold should be very smooth on both the inside and outside, look glossy, and feel slightly moist and heavy in the hand. Inferior molds may have burrs or uneven surfaces. The difference between the two is immediately apparent.

Digitally Optimize Your Plastic Parts

Design for Manufacturing (DFM) is your secret weapon for transforming innovative ideas into mass-producible rotational molded parts. By collaborating with our DFM experts early on, you can identify potential manufacturing obstacles. We will point out potential challenges in your design and suggest design optimizations to improve molding efficiency and minimize waste and production costs. This ensures that your functional parts are also manufacturable, saving you time and money while realizing your vision.

Reduce Production Costs: Streamlined designs minimize material waste, optimize cycle times, and simplify the molding process, thereby reducing production costs.

Improve Quality: DFM helps identify potential design-driven molding defects such as sink marks, warping, or hard-to-fill areas, ensuring your parts meet the highest quality standards.
Accelerate Time to Market: By identifying potential problems early, DFM enables a smoother transition from design to production, accelerating time to market.
