Multifunctional Massager Plastic Case - Surface Treatment Processes and Advantages and Disadvantages of Plastic Injection Molded Parts

Common surface treatment processes for multifunctional massager plastic cases include painting, electroplating, silk screen printing, pad printing, hot stamping, and laser engraving. Below is a detailed explanation of these surface treatment processes and their advantages and disadvantages.

1. Standard Spray Painting

Principle and Process: Use a spray gun to evenly adhere the paint to the Plastic Case. Carefully clean the plastic case and properly mask any areas not to be painted. Precisely control the spray gun's air pressure (approximately 0.3-0.5 MPa), spray width (10-30 cm), and paint output based on the characteristics of the plastic case. Operate in a well-ventilated environment with a temperature of 20-25°C, a humidity of 40%-60%, and sufficient ventilation. Allow to air dry for 24-48 hours or heat in a drying room (50-80°C for 30-60 minutes).

Advantages: A wide range of colors can be blended to meet diverse design needs; equipment and material costs are low, helping to control overall costs.

Disadvantages: Susceptible to scratches from daily use and poor abrasion resistance; paint is susceptible to discoloration and corrosion when exposed to chemicals, and lacks chemical resistance.

2. UV Spray Painting

Principle and Process: After conventional spray painting, the paint is rapidly cured using UV curing equipment. Parameters such as spray gun air pressure (approximately 0.4-0.6 MPa) must be appropriately adjusted based on the paint's characteristics. The UV lamp power (80-120 W/cm), wavelength (365 nm or 405 nm), irradiation distance (10-15 cm), and duration (30-120 seconds) must also be precisely set.

Advantages: The paint film is hard, smooth, and highly abrasion-resistant; it exhibits good resistance to common chemicals; UV curing is rapid, significantly improving production efficiency.

Disadvantages: Dedicated UV curing equipment is expensive to purchase and maintain; process conditions such as paint thickness and UV exposure parameters require stringent control, which can easily lead to incomplete curing or paint film quality issues.

3. Water Electroplating

Principle and Process: Based on the principle of electrolysis, a metal film is deposited on the surface of the plastic shell after pre-treatment of the plastic shell, with controlled parameters such as the plating solution composition, current density, and time.

Advantages: Develops a strong metallic texture and gloss, significantly improving surface hardness and wear resistance.

Disadvantages: Potential environmental pollution risks, complex process, and relatively high cost.

4. Vacuum Electroplating

Principle and Process: In a vacuum environment, metal is evaporated and deposited on the plastic shell surface, with controlled parameters such as deposition rate and film thickness.

Advantages: The resulting metal texture is fine and uniform, and environmentally friendly.

Disadvantages: Requires significant equipment investment and relatively low production efficiency.

5. Silk Screen Printing

Principle and Process: Screen printing is performed on plastic housings by preparing a silk screen, mixing ink, and controlling parameters such as squeegee pressure and speed.

Advantages: Achieve rich, high-precision patterns with excellent cost-effectiveness.

Disadvantages: Printing large areas of solid color or gradient colors is not ideal, and printing on curved surfaces can easily cause pattern distortion and blurring.

6. Pad Printing

Principle and Process: First, etch a steel plate. Use a silicone tip to dip the ink from the steel plate and transfer it to the plastic housing, controlling the pressure and contact time of the silicone tip.

Advantages: Enable high-precision printing and good adaptability to curved surfaces.

Disadvantages: Low production efficiency and high costs for the etched steel plate, special silicone tip, and ink.

7. Hot Stamping

Principle and Process: Use high temperature and high pressure to hot stamp metal foil onto the plastic housing. Parameters such as temperature, pressure, and time must be carefully controlled.

Advantages: Provides a high-end, luxurious appearance with durable patterns. Disadvantages: High cost, difficult to change designs, limited flexibility.

8. Laser engraving

Principle and process: Laser engraving on plastic casings requires control of parameters such as laser power and scanning speed.

Advantages: High engraving precision, high degree of freedom, no damage to the material, and environmentally friendly.

Disadvantages: High equipment investment.
