Production Considerations for Injection Molding Companies
HUIWEN Plastics' core business is the design and manufacture of custom injection molds, secondary injection molding processes, and product assembly. Our product assembly department boasts automated assembly lines, and our expertise also includes ultrasonic welding. We are constantly exploring new manufacturing technologies within the industry. Based on our experience, let's discuss the production considerations for injection molding companies.
Injection molding companies must address the relationship between product design and manufacturing, the role of 3D and 2D drawings of product designs before mold fabrication, and the details involved in finished product assembly.
Before mold fabrication, the product design must be confirmed and its structure must be optimized. Furthermore, customer requirements for product quality, material selection, structural optimization, and performance must be communicated with the customer. This ensures quality and quantity during mass production of injection molding products. Mold manufacturing conditions must meet the following requirements for mass production of injection molding:
1. Mold Steel (Influences the Efficiency and Quality of Injection Molded Products)
We determine the molding material based on appearance and dimensions, and the mold steel based on the material used. Common mold steels include: NAK80, 718H, 738H, 718, 738, S136, S136H, etc. Mold steels vary significantly depending on the quality requirements of the finished product, and mold prices also vary.
Currently, most cross-border e-commerce companies, domestic e-commerce companies, trading companies, brand companies, and foreign trade companies do not pay much attention to mold steel. They are also unclear about whether the plastic material type of the product meets quality requirements. Often, molds are "temporarily set" on a single material during production, only to be arbitrarily changed after the mold is completed. If you value product quality, don't overlook the importance of mold steel in ensuring a quality product! 2. Injection Molding Materials
Common materials for injection molding include: ABS, PETG, PC, TPU, TPE, POM, PP, PMMA, PA6, and PA66. If broken down by material function, brand, and manufacturer, there are thousands of materials, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Materials include high gloss, transparent, matte, soft rubber, hard rubber, wear resistance, cold resistance, heat resistance, toughness, flexibility, plating grade, spray paint grade, food grade, and medical grade.
Injection molding materials vary in their functional properties, and mold production standards vary accordingly. After completing the 3D product design, it is crucial to discuss product quality requirements, material type, manufacturer, functional testing, and material parameters with the injection mold engineer, injection molding engineer, and product engineer to finalize the processing technology and complete the 2D industrial engineering drawings to ensure a high-quality product.
3. Injection Molding Product Design
The injection molding process and conditions are determined based on the product's appearance, dimensional requirements, and the physical properties of the molding material. Injection mold manufacturing and product processing are equally important and require coordinated effort. If a single injection molding facility includes both a mold maker and a molding company, they can eliminate middlemen during production. This allows them to control quality and delivery schedules, provide timely feedback and resolve issues, and complete customer orders more quickly.
HUIWEN Plastic Injection Molding Company has a comprehensive team of R&D and design teams, a mold manufacturing workshop, and a plastics processing department. Upon receiving a customer order, we quickly schedule an engineering meeting to finalize the mold manufacturing plan and outline key considerations for injection molding production.
4. Assembly of Finished Plastic Products
Based on the 2D industrial engineering drawings of the plastic product design, we assemble the parts according to the product characteristics, appearance, dimensions, and performance requirements of each material. Only defect-free materials are allowed to enter the finished product assembly line.
After assembly, it's time to package. Beyond product aesthetics, packaging design and inspection of packaging materials and structure should also take into account factors such as storage height, transportation logistics, and climate change. When storing finished goods in the warehouse, pay attention to temperature and humidity. Ventilation times and seasons should be determined based on product characteristics. Regular insect and rodent control is also essential.
This concludes my sharing. From product design and development, mold manufacturing, and injection molding to finished product assembly, this is a systematic process. Storage and transportation are not independent production processes and require collaborative efforts. Every process has its own considerations. Only by ensuring that every detail is done well can we deliver quality products to our customers. Providing customers with quality injection molded products is our mission at HUIWEN Injection Molding.
